Waxing or shaving?
Shaving only removes the hair at the surface, so stubble returns after a few days. Waxing, on the other hand, works at the root. As a result, your skin stays smooth for much longer.

How your appointment works
Whether it is your first visit or you have been waxing for years, every appointment follows the same calm routine. That way, you always know what to expect.
Short intake
First, we discuss which areas you would like treated. We also ask whether there is anything we should take into account, such as sensitive skin or medication.
The treatment
Next, we apply the warm wax in small sections. Once it has set, we remove it in one quick movement while holding the skin taut.
Soothing and advice
Finally, we soothe the skin. You also receive personal tips, so the result stays beautiful for as long as possible.
Preparation and aftercare
A few small steps help you get more out of your treatment. They also help prevent ingrown hairs.
Before your appointment
- Do not shave for the last two to three weeks, so the hair is about half a centimetre long.
- Exfoliate the area the day before, so loose skin flakes are already gone.
- Do not use body lotion or oil on the day itself, because the wax will not grip as well.
After your appointment
- Avoid sun, sauna, swimming and intense exercise for the first 24 hours, so your skin can settle.
- After that, apply a mild, fragrance-free cream every day.
- From a few days later, exfoliate regularly, so hairs are less likely to grow in.
When is waxing not suitable?
In a few situations, however, we do not treat, or only after consultation. This applies, for example, to the following conditions.
- Benign skin growths
- Eczema or another skin condition
- Varicose veins on the area to be treated
- Severely high blood pressure
- An infectious disease
- Diabetes
- Grazes, cuts or burns

Frequently asked questions about waxing
Is there a difference between “harsen” and “waxen”?
No, they are two Dutch words for the same treatment. In both cases, we remove the hair with warm wax, including the root.
Does waxing hurt?
When we pull the wax off, you feel a brief tug. You get used to it quickly, though, because after a few treatments the hair grows back finer. Lycon wax also sticks mainly to the hair and barely to the skin.
How long does my hair need to be for waxing?
The hair is ideal when it is about half a centimetre long. If you normally shave, stop shaving two to three weeks before your appointment.
How often should I get waxed?
Most clients come back every four to six weeks, because by then the hair is long enough again. This rhythm fits well with the hair growth cycle, so more and more hairs end up in the same growth phase at the same time.
Can I get waxed if I have sensitive skin?
Usually yes, because Lycon wax is especially suitable for sensitive skin. Do let us know beforehand, so we can take it into account. If you have eczema or small wounds on the area, we prefer to wait until the skin has healed.
Can I combine several areas?
Certainly. If you combine the bikini line or a Brazilian with your underarms or legs, you pay a reduced combination price. Buttocks and bum strip together are also cheaper. The calculator on this page shows your total price straight away.
